“The Music of Peace”

Come listen to the Prescott Chorale as they present two works that will evoke sentiments that run the gamut from mournful to joyful, and dramatic to serene.
In 1936, with the specter of World War II on the horizon, Ralph Vaughan Williams composed Dona Nobis Pacem (“Grant Us Peace”), a dynamic piece that shares the fears and the hopes of that time and brought to life by the voices of the Prescott Chorale. A breathtaking and vibrant musical experience!
The voices of the Chorale along with a special young guest soloist from the Tucson Boys Choir, will also perform Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. Thoroughly engaging and joyful dance-like music that will entertain and delight you! The Chichester Psalms was written in Hebrew and will be sung in Hebrew – a rare experience for all!

The voices of the Prescott Chorale, Special Soloists and Full Orchestra.

Venue: Ruth Street Community Theater | 1050 Ruth St, Prescott, AZ 86301

Dr. Edith A. Copley, Conductor
Prescott Chorale & Arizona Philharmonic
Dennis Houser, Artistic Director of Prescott Chorale, Chorus Preparation

This concert is not part of the Prescott Chorale’s regular season, but an add-on event.

Dive into the heart of Handel’s masterpiece at our Messiah Sing-Along, a unique collaboration between Arizona Philharmonic and Prescott Chorale, under the baton of Dr. Edith A. Copley, the beloved and recently retired regent’s professor of Northern Arizona University’s Chorale department. Whether you’re a seasoned singer or a first-time participant, this event invites you to bring your own Messiah scores and join in the choruses, or simply bask in the surrounding music. With the powerful combination of professional musicians and community voices, you can both hear Handel’s Messiah and become an integral part of its performance, creating a truly immersive and unforgettable experience. “Choral Music – A Magnificent Obsession”

Come listen to the voices of the Prescott Chorale as they perform three distinctly unique selections of music that will feed (or create) an obsession with exceptional choral music!
Things Eternal draws from the earliest choral compositions of William Byrd, a brilliant and prolific composer said to be one of the finest composers England has ever produced. From Byrd’s stunning music of the 16th century, the Chorale moves to the choral music of prominent young composer, Ola Gjeilo. Described as lush, harmonious and evocative, Gjeilo’s music as performed by the Chorale will make marvelous memories.

The Music In Poetry introduces you to the lyrical writings of romantic poet, Lord Byron, whose words were many times set to music. Johannes Brahms, a well-known and prolific romantic composer, conversely set poetry to his music. Lastly, the more contemporary music of Samuel Barber rounds out this exceptional collection of music presented by the beautiful voices of the Chorale.

The Prescott Chorale presents Loyalty and Honor through the performance of the music from the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III of England. Ralph Vaughan William’s rousing O Clap Your Hands with full choir, organ and brass, will provide a resplendent display of the Chorale’s talented singers, and an exceptional entertainment experience you won’t want to miss!

Venue: St. Luke’s Episcopal Church | 2000 Shepherds Lane, Prescott, AZ
