As the Prescott Chorale begins its 10th anniversary season, we pause to honor the extraordinary artistry and vision of our founding Artistic Director, Dennis Houser. From the very first downbeat, Dennis has shaped not only the sound of this ensemble but the spirit of its community. His deep musical knowledge, abiding faith, and unwavering passion have guided the Chorale through years of choral excellence. He’s brought joy to each performance and inspired singers and audiences alike with his love for the choral art.

To follow in his footsteps is both a daunting and essential task. At the end of this 2025-2026 season, the role he created and fulfilled with such distinction will open to a new chapter—one that will carry forward the tradition he began. The position description that follows reflects the foundation Dennis built and the promise of what lies ahead. Though his shoes may be impossible to fill, we welcome the opportunity to find a new leader who will continue the Chorale’s mission with heart, imagination, and a commitment to musical excellence.

Job Opening: Artistic Director

Prescott Chorale, Prescott, Arizona
Part-Time; Salary Range – $25,000 – $30,000, Depending on Experience
Reports to the Prescott Chorale Board of Directors
One-year contract with options for extending on a year-to-year basis

Are you hoping to find a vibrant music community with exciting opportunities for retired professional choral directors and musicians? Are you a young, experienced director who is looking for a new, exciting professional challenge. This position may be of interest to you. Prescott Chorale, a 501©(3) is currently looking for a new Artistic Director for the 2026-27 season.

Formed in 2015, the Prescott Chorale has a well-earned reputation as the preeminent chorus in our area, performing new and old major works, commissions, collaborations with schools and colleges, and its support for up-and-coming singers through its Young Artists scholarship program. Seasons typically consist of three subscription concerts and call-outs to perform at special community events.

Prescott is located in the North Central Arizona highlands. It is a city of 50,000, with three colleges and a nationally acclaimed aeronautical engineering university. Prescott is a performing arts mecca and home to numerous vocal and instrumental music groups of various genres. It also successfully supports a variety of large and small live theater offerings. This charming city and the surrounding area of around 120,000 residents is steeped in history and natural beauty. It is situated in the mountains approximately 90 miles north of Phoenix.

Prescott has a vibrant arts and music scene as well as a variety of outdoor adventures. Visitors can explore the iconic western town center, hike the scenic trails of the Prescott National Forest and the prehistoric boulders, or enjoy the serene waters of five small lakes. With its mild climate and welcoming community, Prescott offers a perfect blend of Western heritage and modern amenities, making it a hidden gem in the heart of the Southwest.
