“Dreams of Eternity”
Director, Dennis Houser, has put together a program that will take you on an impassioned journey of musical emotion. The PC begins Dreams with Henry Flurry’s “Fragments”, a setting of 8 texts derived from the Dead Sea Scrolls that reflect upon questioning, awe, thankfulness, and humility. This will be the first performance of his work, newly revised for chorus with string and marimba accompaniment. Dreams continues with two short works by young, contemporary composer, Ola Gjeilo. Thoughts of eternity are expressed in the lyrics of “Dreamweaver” and “Song of the Universal”, stunningly beautiful pieces that will leave you in awe.
“Joy to the World”
The Prescott Chorale’s annual Christmas concerts are a marvelous way to usher in the season. Always performing favorites as well as offering delightful surprises, the Chorale will present two distinctly different concerts with programs designed to inspire and entertain you regardless of age. Along with the beautiful voices of the Chorale singers, you can expect caroling, a guest appearance by the Children’s Choir, and even a visit from Old St. Nick. Join the PC for musical performances sure to put you in the holiday spirit.
“The Genius of Puccini”
Said to be the greatest composer of Italian opera after Verdi, Giacomo Puccini was acclaimed for his imaginative treatment of character and situation, his sure instinct for dramatic and comic effects, and above all his radiant, supremely expressive musical portraiture. While his most renowned works are La bohème, Tosca, Madame Butterfly, and Turandot, the Prescott Chorale will be performing for the first time in Prescott, the vibrant Messa a quattro voci (Messa di Gloria). Young Puccini composed the Mass as his graduation exercise from the Istituto Musicale Pacini. Come enjoy a rare experience as the exceptional singers of your Prescott Chorale present the operatic genius of the Master of Melodrama, Giacoma Puccini. Also, PC will be announcing the 2023-2024 Young Artist Scholarship winners!
